A small favour to thank Kathleen please

My good friend, Kathleen McDermott is competing in "A Little Less Strictly Come Dancing" tonight at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. You will be doing me a great personal favour if you take a minute to vote for Kathleen.

Kathleen is without doubt the most accommodating person I have ever met when it comes to giving up her time for charity and those less fortunate than herself. I have asked Kathleen on numerous occasions to help promote various charities and, without hesitation, she agrees to do it every time. She is currently an ambassador for Revive MS Support and With Kids and tonight she is dancing to raise money for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and, she gives her time generously to each of them and many others.

I know Kathleen has put literally 100's of hours of practice into her performance tonight and that's another endearing trait with Kathleen, if she says yes, she gives you 100%.

Please take a minute and give her your vote; you will be doing me, Kathleen and the hospice a great favour.

To vote please text DANCE K to 70100 all day today and, if you're voting after 6pm tonight please text DANCE KATHLEEN to 70100.

Finally, you will be doing me an additional favour by using the Facebook, Twitter and Share buttons below to share this post with your online community.

Are you a Blogger or a Jogger?

We were working with two of our chosen charities yesterday (with Kids and Revive MS Support) talking about social media and how they can use various tools to engage and communicate with staff, volunteers, clients, and donors.

During lunch, we were discussing jogging and some of the people who had completed 10k and half marathons for the charities and one of the girls commented that she could never do such a thing.  In response, I said this was all right because she could make her own contribution by blogging instead of jogging.

The comment served as a useful example to all present that the world is made up of lots of different kinds of people; active people who like to get involved and do physical stuff either for fun or, to raise much needed funds for their chosen charities.  Less active people, like myself, might not throw on the running shoes and do a marathon but we can still play an effective part in the whole fundraising process.

Writing blogs, sharing fundraising news on Facebook and sending out Tweets about the exploits of others is a very valuable contribution; by doing this you immediately widen the reach of the particular persons efforts to include your community and that of anyone who in turn shares it over again.  It's for that very reason that I have been happy to talk about and share information on Kenneth Martin's kidney transplant and his appeal to raise funds for Yorkhill Hospital.  I see, via the Just Giving page, many of my friends have made donations to the appeal and I thank them for that and, it proves the point that blogging, tweeting, and sharing his story on Facebook has made a difference to the appeal.

So, if you're not inclined to scale a building, run a marathon or zip slide off the Forth Road Bridge don't be too hard on yourself, you can play a valuable role by talking to your community about those who do.

You can help right now; if you found this blog post valuable please share it using one of the social media "Share" buttons at the top of the right hand column or, email someone a link to it or, post a comment below for other to see.

fatBuzz and With Kids

We are delighted to announce our support With Kids, a charity based in the East end of Glasgow in addition to the three other charities; PRTC, Revive MS Suport and the Freedom From Fistula Foundation.

We were asked to provide some advice to With Kids but, when we met with them we were extremely impressed with the whole organisation, the team and the wok that they do so we decided to offer more than just advice. We have already helped them to rebrand and we have launched a new online network for them. We have donated all of this work to With Kids and we've commited to meeting the ongoing cost of their social network platform.

We believe With Kids make a difference to many lives on our own doorstep and we would like all of our associates, clients and friends to show their support by simply joining the online network - doing this will help to promote the charity and it's work and, extend its reach to a much wider community.

Of course, we invite all of you to get more involved if you wish; this could be via a donation, giving some of your time or, helping with some of the events they plan to hold. To keep up to date with everything they are doing please join the network today.

We would also ask you to take a look at the work of the other charities we support, they all do valuable work and would welcome any support that you may be able to offer.
