No need for a Hollywood Production

Video has long been a powerful medium for businesses to communicate and disseminate messages, but thanks to the arrival of 3G phones and tablet devices such as the iPad, it has become considerably easier to access and consume.

Consequently, it is essential to have a presence that will help people find your message online and enable you to raise awareness, build trust and reach potential customers.

However, when we discuss creating video content with our clients, one particular question keeps cropping up: ‘Isn’t video production expensive?’.

Well, the simple answer is no, it doesn’t have to be.

Our in-house video production team can produce video content for you; providing a total service from planning right through to syndication.

Importantly, we will work with you to find solutions that match your resource and your budget.

There are two main ways that fatBuzz approach video production:
  • Content filmed, edited and produced by fatBuzz
  • Content filmed by you and edited and produced by fatBuzz
Capturing the content, though, is only part of the process. We will then take a look at video syndication, promote your content and encourage people to watch and share it.

Video is traditionally uploaded onto video-sharing site, YouTube, and given the fact that it is officially the second largest search engine on the web, it undeniably represents an enormous opportunity to get your message out there.

However, it is also important to acknowledge that video can also be distributed on your website, blog, Facebook page, niche network, iTunes, Vimeo and Viddler to name but a few.

Many people have a perception that iTunes is specifically used for audio purposes, but it is important to remember that it also has a fairly large video directory. In fact, in certain instances, our clients have had four times the amount of downloads on iTunes when compared to views on YouTube.

So, whether you decide to use iTunes, YouTube, Vimeo or Viddler, one thing is evident - regular, video content is no longer just desirable; it is an increasingly, essential aspect of social media.

What do you think about video production? Is it a useful marketing tool? Should businesses embrace video?

QR Codes, Video and Negative Comments...

We're back with more episodes to add to the "Quick Buzz" series.

"Quick Buzz" is a series of 30-60 second videos clips by fatBuzz bringing you news, events and updates from the world of Design, Marketing and Social Media.

In the first video we have Kirsty talking about how to deal with negative comments online. We often see that when companies have a negative comment posted on one of their social media channels, their first reaction is to delete it. This is the wrong thing to do, so take a few minutes to listen to Kirsty's wise words on how this situation should be approached.

We had extra fun filming this first video as Kirsty was the first member of the team to test our new Auto Cue !

Here we have Malcolm making his first appearance in the "Quick Buzz" series, where he talks about how important it is to use the right embed code, when embedding video on to your website. But also not to forget to upload your video content to as many relevant channels as possible to raise awareness of your brand.

Finally to round off our latest "Quick Buzz" update, Gordon talks about how important it is for your business to be using QR Codes. But sometimes just using them, simply isn't enough, you want to make your code stand out from the rest, you want people to have a reason to scan your code instead of your competitor's. You can do this by customising your QR code to match your company's branding.

That's all for now but keep and eye out for more Quick Buzzes from the fatBuzz Team.

If you have any questions about the topics mentioned above, or you have suggestions for a topic you would to hear in a future Quick Buzz, please let us know on our Facebook Page, and member of the team will get back to you.

Edinburgh New Media Breakfast - Using video for business

Thursday 18th November, The Tower Restaurant, Chamber Street, Edinburgh

Registration, bacon rolls, tea and coffee from 8.00am, presentation starts 8.15am sharp.

More and more people are using video as part of their online communication and, more and more people are consuming video content. Most new mobile phones have video functionality and, as the use Apple's iPad and other tablet type devices becomes more popular, the consumption of video content is predicted to keep on
growing.

The New Media Breakfast will look at the different types of video content and look at some of the successful videos used in current marketing. We will also look at different options for producing video content and the type of equipment for video capture.

Capturing the content is only part of the process, we will take a look at video syndication and how you promote your content and encourage people to watch it and share it.

As per some of the previous breakfasts, Tim Barlow of Attacat will give us a five minute run down on the search engine optimisation aspects of video. He'll look at its impact on rankings and how to get your videos ranking in the likes of Google.

We hope you can join us for what should be a fun, but informative breakfast. If you have a specific question you would like to ask, please post it as a comment on the New Media Breakfast blog post. Alternatively you can post it on Twitter as a direct message @fatbuzz or you can email us at hello@fatbuzz.com

I hope you can make it along to this event. If so, I look forward to seeing you on the day.
