Social Media Podcast No.33 - The "New" edition

The "New" edition - the new iPad, new guest, new Groupon valuation, new job for Iain Murray, new words in the Oxford Dictionary...even a new Bride!

In Edition No.33 Gordon White and Kyle Murdoch from fatBuzz are joined by Iain Murray, Europa Sevices and a couple of guests, Tim Barlow and Kiril Bunin of Attacat. We recorded this podcast immediately after the New Media Breakfast in Glasgow on Friday 25th March. Kiril was the presenter at the breakfast and he delivered an extremely interesting and informative presentation on Conversion Rate Optimisation. Such was the quality of the information, most attendees seemed to be hot footing it back to the office to review the user experience on their web sites.

On the podcast we discuss lots of new things - the new iPad gets the thumbs down, Iain Murray has a new job, the Oxford Dictionary has some new words...we even discuss a new Bride - more about that when you listen to the podcast.

We talk about Crowd Sourcing, Coca Cola, Maroon 5, Gold Corp, Lynx new advert, Foursquare, Twestival, Twitter's 5th Birthday, Facebook Places, Cupcakes, Facebook Sponsored Stories and much more.

Kiril chats to us about his presentation and the importance of Conversion Rate Optimisation and, we talk about the need to get CEO's and senior management to 'buy in' to social media and how organisations who's top management have bought in are succeeding with social media.

This month the New Media Breakfast is going to focus on the second way!  “Converting” more visitors into sales (or leads or donations or subscribers) is less expensive than you would imagine and delivers rapid returns.

Kiril Bunin from Attacat Internet Marketing will, in his unique Russian style, introduce you to the processes behind the growing specialism known as Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) including:
  • User testing on a shoestring
  • Analytics beyond Google Analytics
  • Getting direct feedback from prospects and customers
  • The science of split testing
He will then illustrate the power of CRO to you with case studies highlighting both common and more subtle conversion roadblocks and mistakes.

To finish, Kiril will do a live review of your website* giving you pointers and showing you where you may be losing visitors.  If you’d like to volunteer your site get in touch with fatBuzz (Priority will be given to those registered on the New Media Breakfast website*whilst stocks last

Edinburgh New Media Breakfast - not to be missed - especially for SME's

Just a quick reminder to all the Edinburgh New Media Breakfast attendees to book for this Thursday's event on Cloud Computing.

You may not think this is an important subject but, if you use a mobile phone you are almost certainly already using Cloud Computing and, you will be using it more and more in the future.

Tommy Mitchell from NVT Group gives a very humorous, but berry informative presentation on how businesses can benefit from Cloud Computing. His advice will not only let you access the same software as blue chip companies but, it will save you money and improve your operational set up.

I strangle recommend you to come along on Thursday and learn what it all means and how you can start to take advantage of the opportunities availabe in the cloud.
