Blogging - It's more than just words!
5th Anniversary New Media Breakfast - Making the most of blogging
DATE: 3rd October 2014
TIME: 7.45am
VENUE: 29 Member's Club, Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow

Remarkably, the September New Media Breakfast will mark the 5th anniversary of the event, it seems no time at all since we started the New Media Breakfast, but the social media landscape has changed considerably during the last 60 months.

One of the main methods of content creation, and becoming sociable back when we started was blogging, and it's still one of the most powerful and effective ways to get your message to your target audience. Many platforms have come and gone but blogging still remains a vital part of most good social media strategies.

What has changed is the sophistication of blogging platforms and the functionality that can be applied to them, so blogging is no longer simply about written text; images, video and audio can all now play a part.  The September New Media Breakfast will explore the world of blogging and some of the options you may wish to consider when deciding on a format and creating blog content.

In addition to looking at the format of your blog, we will also discuss that old favourite - blog content.  what works, when to post, how to get it shared, and why blogging remains a powerful element in any successful social media marketing strategy.
If there is something relating to blogging you would particularly like us to cover, please email gordon@fatbuzz.com prior to the event and we'll do our best to incorporate it into the presentation.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Next Friday we explore how to make images work for your business

The next New Media Breakfast is next Friday (29th August) and it really is an interesting one. We presented this in Edinburgh last week and it was extremely well received, with lots of great feedback afterwards.

Without doubt, images get the most engagement on social media, but how do you tap into this popularity to make them work for your business?  We will explore this at next week's breakfast session in Glasgow.

Regardless of whether you are a B2B or B2C business, you can make great use of images to encourage engagement and attract people to your community, if you would like to know how, you should come along on Friday morning.  We hope you can make it and we look forward to seeing you.

THE POWER OF IMAGES

How to make the most of images in your online marketing

DATE: 29th Aug 2014
TIME: 7.30am for 8am
VENUE: 29 Member's Club, Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow

It's no secret that images play an enormous part in social media. The explosion of Instagram and Pinterest is a clear demonstration of the popularity of image sharing. And, posting images on Facebook has long been the best way to achieve genuine engagement and real reach.

Images are powerful - they speak a thousand words...sometimes more! Are you using images in your marketing? If so, are you using them to their greatest effect? What's more, are you using them legally?

We are hearing many examples of people being fined by image libraries for using images they are not entitled to use. There is also a common misconception that because an image is public, it is in the public domain; this is not the case. Image libraries will continue to pursue offenders, and with the development of more and more sophisticated image recognition software, the chances of being caught out are even greater.

But, there are ways to source royalty free images, and there are new platforms where you can source the perfect image for your content. Moreover, most SmartPhones will allow you to capture excellent quality images yourself which are ideal for your own use with no fear of breaching copyright - but what if you could sell them to other content creators?

The August New Media Breakfast will explore the power of images and how to use them effectively and legally.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone creating content that utilises images whether it's on a web site, blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest... or any other platform for that matter.
